SLASH To Guest On VASCO ROSSI's New Album

December 14, 2007

Italian news blog Musica Metal reports that VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash will make a guest appearance on the new album from Italian pop-rock songwriter/superstar Vasco Rossi, tentatively titled "Disco Volante". Vasco describes the song featuring Slash as "a real bomb," and says that he got in touch with the guitarist through his session drummer, Matt Laug, who is said to be the former GUNS N' ROSES axeman's longtime friend.

The news of Slash's collaboration with Rossi has caught Italian rock fans by surprise, as many of them think that Vasco has taken a commercial/dance turn with his latest work, in sharp contrast to his early career in hard rock.

The 55-year old Vasco Rossi plays just a handful of live shows a year, but is able to sell out 50,000-capacity festivals just on the strength of his name.

"Disco Volante" is tentatively due in the spring.
